Principles of Genealogical Research: Provision of clear evidence from primary sources to support all conclusions and statements of fact. Use of original sources and records (or surrogate images of originals) to gather key information. Citation and recording of sources used so that others may also evaluate the evidence.
All research is confidential. I am registered with the Information Commissioner (CO1), registration number CSN1859681, and all data is stored and used in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA2018).
Research is based on direct ancestors. Where investigation of siblings or cousins etc. is required, this should be specified and will be costed on a bespoke basis. The minimum research period is based on a half day rate i.e. 4 hours.
All research is conducted on the availability of certificates for ancestors or substitute records such as baptisms and probate records can be located. Where these are elusive further research would be required at an additional cost.
The copyright of the pedigree and report are retained. All images contained in the report are for illustrative purposes only and not for publication.
The packages do not include the cost of GRO birth, marriage, and death certificates. These are purchased where necessary. Paper certificates cost £11, where PDF versions are available the price is reduced to £7 (birth entries from 1837 - 1919 and death entries from 1837 - 1957). A further reduction is available for the new instant digital view images at £2.50 per record (birth records from 1837 - 1922 and death records from 1837 - 1957).

Post 1858 wills are not available on the genealogy sites and require purchasing from the Principal Probate Registry (PPR) at the cost of £1.50 each.
Researching in national and county archives can incur a travel charge to cover parking and petrol and the cost of photographing or copying the records. These vary according to the repository.
All efforts are made to identify the records necessary to progress each stage of the research. Sometimes there are gaps in the sources, they may have been damaged or destroyed, or an ancestor has not been included as expected. These are known as “Negative Results”. Time spent investigating is charged whether results are produced or not.
To commission research a 50% deposit is required, with the balance paid on completion. The right is reserved to withhold reports until payment has been received in full.
Reports can take 6 – 8 weeks to complete from the point of commissioning.
